Tony Spezia

 

Contracts/Program Manager
Tony comes to NTRCI with 10 years experience in business development, engineering, and research.  As co-founder of a small engineering business, he developed patented safety devices for the transportation industry and was awarded an innovation award from a premier entrepreneurship network.  Tony has also held engineering positions at a Tier 1 automotive supplier and a major medical devices company.  His responsibilities spanned across the development life-cycle from research to production.  Early in his career he held a research assistant position with The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Oak Ridge National Laboratory which led to his published research on hybrid vehicles and experimental thermal management systems.  In academic life Tony also served as a teacher’s assistant in mathematics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Tony holds Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  As the Contracts/Program Manager at NTRCI, Tony will be responsible for coordinating and contracting research projects that meet the transportation research goals of the organization.
